Inspired by the sketchbooks of the Renaissance artist, this new masque-like multimedia chamber opera explores the process of creativity and creation. Conceived by composer Charlie Barber in collaboration with choreographer Andy Howitt and filmmaker Barnaby Dicker.
Through a series of scenes - episodic, real and imagined - the production integrates three male dancers and four musicians with video, animated drawings, living sculpture and manipulated images to explore the process of creativity and creation.
Featuring Turkish countertenor Cenk Karaferya, Belgian recorder player Jan Van Hoecke, and Spanish theorbist Manuel Minguillón, the live musicians interact with other performers – choirs and brass ensembles – through video and digital technology.
The performance lasts approximately 60 minutes without an interval
